Jokes in Auschwitz: VC2

This inspiring story by VC2 producer Sandi B is about finding laughter in the last place you would think. In 1944, Werner Reich was a teenager in the Nazi death camp known as Auschwitz-Birkenau, when the infamous Josef Mengele, “The Angel of Death,” randomly “selected” 96 boys out of 5000, saving them from the gas chamber. Werner was one of the surviving “Birkenau Boys” spared, it seems, because of a bad joke. For more great content go to www.current.com.

This is a precious old man telling his story. Let him speak loud with his life. Let him cry bittersweet tears. He said I had to try to die or try to be alive. Shawshank redemption took this line too by saying I could get busy living or get busy to die. Great Job SANDY BACHOM!!! I think this is touching. Laughter is medicine like no other. I cried tears of sad joy when I watched this.

lol… are you forgetting what holocaust documentaries document? in case you forgot, i’ll remind you.. they document an era in history where millions of people died because of racism and hatred, both of which are both around today- so tell me that a fictional film is a better example of mimesis than a piece of art that ACTUALLY does reflect on our society and culture (*cough* a “holocaust doc” *cough*)… i haven’t seen that 4 little girls movie but i seriously doubt it does
