Ellen Surprises ‘American Idol’ Reject Angela Martin Finally, some good news for American Idol’s most determined and cursed contestant, Angela Martin. As you know, Angela has made it to American Idol’s Hollywood Week during three separate seasons only to have her dreams crushed by inexplicable tragedy and the judges’ denial. For season 9, we were positive Angela would be in the Top 24, as her inspiring story and hard luck was featured heavily. Simon Cowell went as far as saying Angela was “the kind of story this show is all about.” But as you know, it was not meant to be and Angela was told for a third and final time she would not be an American Idol semi-finalist. As Kara Dioguardi tried to soften the brutal blow, she told Angela “don’t worry, there are other ways to succeed.” And it would seem Kara, with the help of fellow Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres are doing all they can to make sure Angela does succeed. Ellen invited Angela on her other show this morning to talk about her time on Idol, her missing mother, and to surprise her with what we hope is Angela’s first big break. OMG, this is fantastic and very touching. I’m glad this young lady was able to get help after all she’s been through, and I’m glad she’s getting her break. What a great singer!

i cannot believe they took ashley rodriguez, janell wheeler, and haeley vaughn over her. it was ridiculous.

I am disappointed that the judges made a mistake and denied Angela Martin a place in the top 24. She should have made the top 24 instead of Haeley Vaughn, who should have waited until season 11. If she made the top 24, I would have pulled for her.

@arturesteve It does seem a bit off/odd, in all, but in the end, I’m happy for her. As I just said to another poster here, I really wish she was able to get some more exposure first. But we will see! I hope she really takes off!! With that much possible money, she could afford the best care for her daughter at home.

I kinda have the feeling that this was all planned. Kara said so many things to her on her judgment in Hollywood, so it didn’t make sense that she was eliminated. She’s an amazing vocalist, but I don’t know if she would’ve won, considering it’s more of a popularity contest once the real show begins…maybe they planned it like this because they took it personal and wanted her to have a deal?
If there won’t be problems?! I mean when she always invite people from american idol , who she likes much, to her show….
