Nancy Today: Making candles from beeswax foundations


I had these beehive wax foundations which go in a hive, but instead I used them to make candles, to roll them up into candles. But you have to remove the wire or they get hot and melt the candle down the sides. eeek

    Do you know what the metal wire is? Could it be lead?? Maybe not since we eat the honey that is built around it. Excellent repurposing!

    @1965blaze Well, you’re not actually supposed to use the bee hive foundations cos they are made for the bees. So yes, if you don’t take the wire out, as the candle burns, the wire gets very hot and melts down the side of the candle.
