I have had the older version of this book for over 5 years now. I have actually used in in Africa, and throughout Asia as an experienced traveler. I found the advice to be excellent. Even for lonely planet ;-)

Medications, dosages, symptoms in particular have saved me from everything from Malaria, to stomach problems.

I would go out of my way to buy this again, should I ever lose my copy.

This will be a book that I will make room for my travels throughout Asia and India.

It is must for those who intend to enjoy their travels rather than experiencing their destinations through the many bathrooms and hospitals that they will most likely frequent.

The region of Asia and India is so large, it will be impossible – even for a great published like Lonely Planet – to put it all in one book. All the advice you need, all the information you want, all the tips… It just cannot be done. This guide will prove interesting and even fascinating reading for the armchair traveller, or for those wanting an overview before they plan to visit the region. But it’s not the kind of guidebook you will want to take with you. It’s not a ‘travel survival kit’ as it claims.
