I found this book fun to read and full of useful tips for both budding and long time vegetarians. It may also be a good introduction to people considering adopting a vegetarian diet but who haven’t yet made the shift.

As a lifelong omnivore I would have to say that I was a little skeptical about reading a book about vegetarianism. I feared that it would be a compendium of criticisms about meat-eaters or a diatribe about ethical issues. However, a few pages into Staci Marquez-Nichols’ book I was delightfully surprised. The author conveys a wealth of information in a conversational tone, sounding much more like a knowledgeable friend than a crazed activist. Enclosed you will find tips on the health benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle, how to avoid common pitfalls, and how to make a successful transition into the world of vegetarianism. The organization of the book breaks up the material into manageable bit-sized pieces allowing for an easy-read. With a wry sense of humor, Marquez-Nichols answers questions, gives suggestions, debunks myths, and causes us to truly consider what it is we consume on a daily basis. Ultimately, we realize that every body is different and the food we eat should be a very thoughtful and personal choice.
